CBI vs West Bengal: Solicitor General says probe agency independent, state disagrees
"The CBI has a separate legal and functional identity outside the Union of India. The CBI reports to the CVC on the progress of investigations in cases. The CVC is appointed by a special collegium," the Solicitor general argued before the Top Court.
